South Africa and Namibia-Bowling Holiday-2014

Tues 18 Mar         London – Johannesburg
Meet your Tour Manager and the rest of the group at Heathrow airport for your overnight flight with Virgin Atlantic to Johannesburg International Airport.

Wed 19 Mar        Johannesburg – Centurion (D)
On arrival at Johannesburg we will met by our local representatives and transfer to Centurion, were we will check into the 4* Protea Hotel Wanderers with breakfast for the next 3 nights. The Wanderers hotel is located within a secure complex and is just 50 metres from the Wanderers Bowls Club. This evening join the Tour Manager for a welcome dinner.





Thur 20 Mar            Centurion (B)
After breakfast we will depart on a sightseeing tour of Pretoria which has been the epitome of staid traditionalism, with its graceful government buildings, wide avenues of purple flowering jacarandas and staunchly Boer farming origins. We will visit the Union Buildings, Voortrekker Monument and Freedom Park, take a cultural walk around Church Square and Church street to view many of the historical buldings that shaped the history of South Africa.

Fri 21 Mar            Centurion (B) – Bowls Match 1
This morning we depart for a visit to the Apartheid Museum and Soweto Township before returning to the hotel to prepare for our afternoon Bowls fixture.


Sat 22 Mar Johannesburg – Windhock (B, D)
After breakfast we return to Johannesburg airport for our International flight to Windhock, Naimbia, were we will be met by our local guides and driven to the Windhoek Country Club Resort our base for the next 2 nights on Half Board basis. On arrival into Windhock we will conduct a short city tour.

Tonight join the rest of the group for a traditional welcome dinner at the hotel.

Sun 23  Mar   Windhock (B, D) – Bowls Match 2
This morning is at leisure to relax at the hotel resort or explore Windhock downtown shopping area. In the afternoon we head for the Windhock Country Club Bowls Club for a social bowls match with evening meal.


Mon 24 Mar            Sossusvlei Lodge (B, L, D)
After breakfast we depart Windhock, travelling south via Rehoboth to arrive at the scenic Sossusvlei dunes, stopping on-route for lunch, before check in to the Lodge for the next 2 nights on full board basis. This afternoon we will visit the nearby dunes.

Tues 25 Mar           Sossusvlei Lodge (B, L, D)
Today we will spend the day at the world famous dunes for some outstanding photography, and fun. Visits including the Dead Pan, Dune 45, Elim Dune with time for some dune climbing. The afternoon will be spent at the Sesriem Canyon.

Wed 26 Mar          Sossusvlei Lodge – Swakopmund (B, L, D)
After breakfast we depart for Swakopmund, the route will take us through the Namib Naukluft Park and the fascinating geological rock formations of the Kuiseb Canyon. Visit the prehistoric Moonlandscape and Welwitschia Plains, stopping on route for a picnic lunch, before driving through this colonial town and arriving at the coastal resort town of Swakopund. Check in to the Swakopund Hotel and Entertainment Centre for 3 nights on Half Board basis


Thur 27 Mar            Swakopmund (B, D) – Bowls Match 3
This morning is spent exploring the coastal Namib Desert on a Living Desert Tour, searching for the “Little Five”. In the early afternoon we head to the Rossmund Bowls Club for a social Bowls match with evening meal.

Fri 28 Mar                Swakopmund (B, D) – Bowls Match 4
Early morning we transfer to the neighbouring town of Walvis Bay- here we will head out on a dolphin cruise with Namibian Oysters, sparkling wine and snacks. From here we transfer to the Namib Park Bowls Club in Walvis Bay for a social Bowls match with evening meal, before returning to our hotel.

Sat 29 Mar                Swakopmund – Ongava Reserve (B, L, D)
After breakfast we depart Swakopmund and drive through central Namibia to arrive at the Ongava Reserve, adjacent to the Etosha National Park, arriving at the Andersson Camp in time for lunch, before check in for the next 2 night’s on full board basis. This afternoon we will take in our first game drive into the Etosha Park with game viewing at the nearby waterholes. Return to the hotel for your evening meal.


Sun 30 Mar        Ongava Reserve (B, L, D)
Today will be spent in the Etosha National Park with morning and afternoon game drives, returning to the camp for lunch and evening meal.

Mon 31 Mar             Ongava Reserve – Windhock – Cape Town (B, L)
Time to leave the deserts of Namibia and head back to Windhock International Airport for our flight to Cape Town, South Africa, were we will spend the next 4 nights at our 4* hotel with breakfast.


Tues 1 Apr              Cape Town (B)
Today we have free for you to relax after the excitement of the Namibia Desert.

Wed 2 Apr                 Cape Town (B) – Bowls Match 5
This morning is at leisure. Maybe take in Table Mountain or a visit to Robben Island before our next social bowls fixture against local opposition,

Thur 3 Apr                 Cape Town (B)
Full day at leisure to enjoy the sunshine.


Fri 4 Apr                 Cape Town (B)
Today is our last full day on tour and your last chance to pick up a few gifts from the V&A Waterfront (Green Shed) before we head to the Lord Nelson Hotel for afternoon tea.

Sat 5 Apr              Cape Town (B) - London
Time for that last piece of African sunshine, before we head to the International Airport for our evening flight to London Heathrow Airport.

Sun 6 Apr               London
We land at Heathrow early in the morning. Time to say goodbye to your fellow travellers and head home with some very happy memories and great photo’s of your experience in Africa.
