West Coast USA - Bowls Club Tour Sample Itinerary
bowls Day 1
London to Phoenix
Scheduled flight to Phoenix, Arizona. 

On arrival, transfer to Scottsdale for a 2 night stay.

Day 2
Phoenix / Bowls Match
Breakfast at the hotel.

Known as the “Valley of the Sun”, Scottsdale nestles between the Arizona desert and the mountains and offers a variety of galleries and shopping opportunities.

This afternoon, transfer to your first bowls match at a local bowls club with after-match hospitality.

 
Day 3
Phoenix to Flagstaff
Breakfast at the hotel.

Travel through Navajo Indian country to the artist colony of Sedona, surrounded by red sandstone spires, continuing to Oak Tree Canyon. Rising higher we approach the rim of the Grand Canyon, one of the world’s most awe-inspiring sights.  Time for lunch and photo opportunities galore before descending to the town of Flagstaff and our overnight accommodation.

Day 4
Flagstaff to Las Vegas
Breakfast at the hotel before checking out.

This morning we make a brief visit to Williams with its historic locomotives before continuing to the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas.  Chance your hand at one of the hundreds of casinos, enjoy a show and be amazed by the vast array of entertainment on offer.
 

Day 5
Las Vegas
Breakfast at the hotel.

Free day to enjoy all that Las Vegas has to offer.  Like New York, the city never sleeps and there are endless entertainment opportunities.  Optional excursion to the Hoover Dam.

Day 6
Las Vegas to Visalia
Breakfast at the hotel before checking out.

Crossing the Mojave Desert we visit the ghost town of Calico, once a thriving silver mining centre, now a tourist attraction complete with ‘old time’ cowboys.  Overnight at Visalia.
 
Day 7
Visalia to Sonora
Breakfast at the hotel before checking out.

This morning we visit an area of outstanding natural beauty – Yosemite National Parks.  In the heart of the Sierra Nevada, the park has a fantastic array of dogwoods, sugar pines and of course, the famous Giant Redwoods plus waterfalls and fabulous scenery at every turn.  After a picturesque drive we leave the park and continue the journey to our overnight stop at Sonora.

Day 8
Sonora to San Fransisco
Breakfast at the hotel before checking out.

Travel west to the fabulous city of San Francisco.  Take a guided city tour to see the Golden Gate Bridge, Nob Hill, Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf and the Italian Quarter.
 
Day 9
San Fransisco / Bowls Match
Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning free in San Francisco.  This afternoon we transfer you to your second bowls match.

Day 10
San Fransisco
Breakfast at the hotel.

Free day in San Francisco.  Take a boat trip out to Alcatraz, sample some of America’s finest shops on Union Square or wander around Fisherman’s Wharf.
 

Day 11
San Fransisco to San Simeon
Breakfast at the hotel before checking out.

Travel south to Monterey with its Spanish architecture.  Take the famous 17 Mile Drive, one of the loveliest coastal routes in the world.  Stop for lunch in the town of Carmel where Clint Eastwood used to be mayor, before joining the twisting Big Sur coastline to San Simeon.

Day 12
San Simeon to Santa Barbara / Bowls Match
Breakfast at the hotel before checking out.
We continue to Santa Barbara, a town favoured by artists with its palm-fringed streets, charming promenade along the harbour and pier.   

This afternoon we transfer you to your third bowls match against local opposition.
 
Day 13
Santa Barbara to Los Angeles / Bowls Match
Breakfast at the hotel before checking out.

This morning we continue to Los Angeles and check in to our hotel for the next 3 nights.  We take a guided tour of the city including the Farmers Market, Hollywood Boulevard and Beverley Hills.

This afternoon we transfer to the fourth bowls match at a local club.

Day 14
Los Angeles
Breakfast at the hotel.

A free day to explore this exciting city.  See Grauman’s Chinese Theatre where the hand and footprints of the famous are immortalized, take a trip to Universal Studios for some movie magic or take a trip into the Hollywood Hills to see the homes of the stars.
 

Day 15
Los Angeles / Bowls Match
Breakfast at the hotel.

Final day in Los Angeles, with a chance for some last minute shopping for souvenirs.

This afternoon we transfer to our final bowls match.

Day 16
Los Angeles to London
Breakfast at the hotel before checking out.

Transfer to the airport for your scheduled flight back to London.

Day 17
London
Morning arrival in London.
