WORLD BOWLS CHAMPIONSHIPS - DAY 9

Section 1 of the women’s pairs.

Update from Day 9:

Men’s Singles: Gary Kelly (Ireland), Sam Tolchard (England), Izzat Shameer (Malaysia) and Aaron Wilson (Australia) all sit at the top of their section groups undefeated. Day 10 will determine the eight that progress to the quarter finals.

Women’s Pairs: C. Anderson, S. Wilson (Norfolk Island) look to top section 1 while the second place will be decided today between Wales, USA and South Africa. S. Goddard, K. Inch (New Zealand) currently top section 2 with Guernsey, Ireland and the Philippines in contention to qualify. In section 3 E. McIntyre, C. Anderson (Scotland) currently top the group but it’s all very close and today’s games could change the top. S. Tolchard, A. Pharaoh (England) currently top section 4 with Malta’s R. Rixon, C. Rixon in second, Birmingham 2022 Gold medalists in the pairs K.Krstic & E. Ryan (Australia) currently sit in third, with games left to play today they’ll be looking to qualify to the quarter finals.

Men’s fours: T. Grantham, C. Le Lievre, L. Pascoe, S. Bagrie-Howley (New Zealand) are undefeated in section 1. Section 2 sees C. Wedlock, A. Teys, C. Healey, A. Sherriff (Australia) at the top with the Welsh quartet in second and Namibia in 3rd. Birmingham 2022 Gold medalists Ireland look to top their group having gone unbeaten in very good form. Section 4 sees J. Banks, D. Oliver, P. Foster. MBE, A. Marshall. MBE (Scotland) unbeaten .. but the other qualifier will be decided today. Thailand and Hong Kong China sit in 2nd and 3rd while England currently sit in 4th.

Women’s Triples: D. Hayman, L. Clarke, K. Cottrell (Australia) top section 1 with Ireland, Israel and Hong Kong China fighting to qualify. In section 3 L. Poulson, T. Bruce, V. Smith (New Zealand) top the group, while Canada and Jersey look to also qualify. J. L. Marshall, L. Kuhler, K. Rednall (England) currently top section 4 with T. Muvhango, E. Kruger, A. Snyman (South Africa) in second.
