WORLD BOWLS CHAMPIONSHIPS - DAY 2

Movement on the competition ladder as big games are played.

Women's Singles: Ellen Ryan (Australia) continued her form during day two, but she is closely followed by Jane Rigby (Zimbabawe) in her group who is also unbeaten, they will play each other this morning at Mudgeeraba Bowls Club. In Section 2 Gloria Ha (Hong Kong China) snatched a win from on form England player Katherine Rednall meaning Gloria Ha now sits on top of a very competitive group. In section 3 Kelly McKerihen (Canada) continues her winning streak but with three games to play today, there could be a lot of movement at the top. World Champion of Champions 2022 Gold medalist Tayla Bruce (New Zealand) remains unbeaten in her section.

Men's Pairs: Welsh duo D. Salmon & J. Breen (Wales) continue take a big win against competition hosts, Australian duo A. Teys & A. Wilson. A match between Wales and the Jersey pairing of D. Boswell & M. De Sousa could see changes at the top of the leader board at the end of today. In section 2 S. Bahadur & P. Sonowal (India) and T. Cheung & L. Ka Ho (Hong Kong China) both remain unbeaten but the India pairing are yet to face A. Mckeown & G. Kelly (Ireland) which could cause the top of the ladder to look very different by the end of today. Section 3 is very tight with Thailand, England, Canada and New Zealand all in contention for qualifying. J. Banks & I. McLean (Scotland) top section 4 with I. Shameer Bin Dzulkeple & M. Soufi Bin Rusli (Malaysia) and South African duo W. Rittmuller & N. Benguric fighting for second place in the section.

Women's Fours: K. Krstic, D. Hayman, L. Clarke, K. Cottrell (Australia) remain unbeaten in section 1. S. Tolchard, J. L. Marshall, L. Kuhler, A. Pharaoh (England) remain at the top of section 2, although they were beaten by T. Muvhango, F. Baleri, E. Kruger, A. Snyman (South Africa) 18-6 yesterday. Section 3 saw a battle between New Zealand and Wales for the top spot yesterday, New Zealand taking the win. Wales now sit in second place of the group and Malta in third. In section 4 the table seems to be wide open for any of Hong Kong China, Scotland, Thailand or Cook Islands to qualify as they've all suffered two losses each.

Men's Triples: L. Ridout, N. Brett, J. Walker (England) remain unbeaten but they will play second place trio in the group T. Hadar, S. Hare, A. Saitowitz (Israel) in the last game today which could decide the top spot. C. Wedlock, A. Sherriff, C. Healey (Australia) remain at the top of section 2 while B. Brault, A. Zangl, L. Dion (United States of America) top section 3. In section 4 P. Foster. MBE, D. Oliver, A. Marshall. MBE (Scotland) are the only unbeaten trio.

Para VIP Mixed Pairs: Only one game remaining today in the sectional play sessions for the VIP Mixed Pairs. M. Homer (P. Homer), H. Scholtz (G. Newcombe) from South Africa remain at the top of the table with England and Australia close behind.

Men's Para Pairs: D. Delgado & J. Reynolds (Australia) remain unbeaten in Section 1 while P. Chi Yeung & M. Kin Kwong (Hong Kong China) sit in second. D. Van De Vyer, G. Rees-Gibbs (South Africa) top section 2. Matches finish for the men's para pairs today.

Women's Para Pairs: It will be a vital game this morning for Birmingham 2022 Gold Medalists R. Lenton & P. Wilson (Scotland) as they play the Australian duo of C. Lindfield & S. Bonnell (Australia) which could determine the top spots. J. O'Connell & T. Blackbourn (New Zealand) currently top the competition ladder.
